We remember Bill as a quiet, but exceptionally bright member of our class. Others joined the Science Club or the Chess Club as interesting diversions, but Bill was devoted to the discipline and precision he found there. It was the same with the Math Club. He competed on the Golf Team with both a natural ability and a determination to always be better. It came as no surprise that he was tapped for the National Honor Society as a junior and continued there as a senior. His potential seemed unlimited.

Bill was selected to attend Cornell University, among the most elite colleges of anyone graduating with us in the Spring of 1965. What happened in Ithaca, New York over the ensuing year, we will never know. Bill returned to Sharon for the 1966 Thanksgiving holiday, but while there made the decision not to continue his life. Friends who had traveled with him were in shock. Family grieved with his parents at the loss of their only son. His mother passed away in 1991 at the age of 68. His father died in 1996 at the age of 78. Both of their obituaries refer to Bill as their beloved son. We mourn his loss and will always be saddened that his potential was never realized.
